MAPFRE is in fifth place in the Merco 2016 Responsibility and Corporate Governance ranking and, as such, climbed six places when compared to 2015. MAPFRE is still the most highly rated insurance company in this assessment of the companies based in Spain with the best ethical behavior.
The ranking looks into the factors linked to responsibility and corporate governance. To this end, an in-depth analysis is made of several variables such as the measures offered to company employees to promote talent and strike a work/life balance, workplace quality and the advantages that make these companies good places to work.
The study also considers aspects such as environmental commitment and the damages/protection of the environment. Another aspect is the companies’ commitment to social issues and their programs aimed at solving said situations. Other variables include transparent policies, quality of the information provided, honesty and respect for consumer rights.
The study is based on the opinions of different groups of experts such as management committees, financial analysts, NGOs, consumer associations and journalists that specialize in economic information. Together, they helped to determine the ethical behavior and responsibility of the companies in question.
