MAPFRE ASSISTANCE UK has announced a partnership with Co-op Insurance to provide a travel insurance product to Co-op members and clients. Co-op Insurance entered the travel insurance market in partnership with MAPFRE ASSISTANCE UK looking to revolutionize the sector by offering a new product with innovative features.
MAPFRE ASSISTANCE UK has designed the product suite in partnership with Co-op from the ground up, based on the philosophy of providing cover for Co-op members and clients “before, during and after their trips”, building a comprehensive package that places the client at the heart of the product by asking Co-op’s members directly what it is they want from a travel insurance solution.
The product can be broken down into three policy categories: Single Trip, Annual Multi-trip and Backpacker travel insurance.
MAPFRE ASSISTANCE UK and Co-op share the same commitment to service excellence; therefore they created an ethical product that reflects the values of both Groups. Co-op Travel Insurance provides cover for any age, any medical condition and to any destination, enabling every Co-op member and client to obtain a travel quote.
MAPFRE ASSISTANCE UK has taken advantage of emerging technologies to greatly improve the member and client experience, whilst also differentiating the product in the marketplace.
One of the core features is the Online Doctor service – this service allows clients to access video-call assessments with UK GPs for non-emergency consultations and to receive prescriptions and medical notes via their smartphones, thereby avoiding the hassle, stress and expense of visiting a medical facility whilst abroad.
Co-op Travel Insurance will pay medical expenses up front to all popular destinations*, whilst Co-op members and clients will also be provided with a range of post-trip services to maximise the value and client experience of the product. This includes Homecare, which provides a number of services to those members who require a helping hand after an accident or illness abroad.
Co-op will pay up to the amount specified in the policy for physiotherapy or chiropractic services, home help or nanny cover and/or NHS prescription costs.
Colin Butler, Head of Partnerships at Co-op Insurance said, “MAPFRE ASSISTANCE UK was a clear choice for us when choosing a partner to help us to deliver this unique proposition. They’re experts in the travel insurance market and met our requirements by enabling us to develop a product directly with our members. Our members wanted a fully rounded insurance product, providing them with support before, during and after their trip, and MAPFRE’S fair and flexible approach meant we could achieve this.”
Richard Saunders, Head of Corporate Partnerships at MAPFRE ASSISTANCE UK added,
“We believe that MAPFRE ASSISTANCE UK and Co-op are a perfect cultural fit, with both having been founded as mutuals for the benefit of members. We are delighted to be partnering with an organisation that shares the same ethical beliefs as MAPFRE and we are looking forward to building a successful partnership over the coming years, delivering a better way of doing business”.
